Wuyi Mountain Rougui Rock Tea — A Classic Wuyi Rock Oolong
Rougui, meaning “cinnamon” in Chinese, is one of the best-known varieties of Wuyi Rock Tea. The name does not mean that cinnamon is added to the tea. Instead, it describes the naturally warm, sweet, and spicy aroma that can remind you of cinnamon, along with floral and roasted notes that develop through traditional tea-making.
What makes Wuyi Rock Tea interesting is that it is not simply about a strong flavor. A good cup can change as you drink it. You may notice a warm fragrance when you first smell the tea, a smooth and full-bodied taste in the first sip, and a pleasant lingering sweetness afterward. Tea lovers often describe this lasting character as Yan Yun, or “rock charm.”
